VTR354 Service
Recently, our service engineers performed an overhaul service on a VTR354 turbocharger. We prepared 2 teams (float team & workshop team) to ensure that the job will be completed within 30 hours.
Our float team went on board vessel to dismantle the turbocharger. Upon inspection of the rotor unit we discovered that the cover ring and nozzle ring had been severely corroded. They lifted and transported the complete rotor unit back to our workshop, where service will be undertaken.
Our service engineers (workshop team) proceeded to:
- Clean rotor shaft, nozzle ring and cover ring (chemical cleaning, ash blasting & crack-free dye check)
- Dynamic balancing
- Upon completion of service in our workshop the float team was activated again to re-install the complete rotor unit onboard vessel with replacement genuine ABB spare parts.
Our service engineers completed the job in less than 30 hours.
